What is CBD oil?
CBD oil is an extract from the cannabis plant. The two main active substances in the plant are cannabidiol in short CBD and delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol also known as THC. The high (The psychological effect) that’s caused by the consumption of cannabis is because of THC. CBD, however, doesn’t cause a “high” or any sort of intoxication. CBD oil is made by extracting cannabidiol from the cannabis plant, then diluting it with a carrier oil like coconut or hemp seed oil.
Effects of CBD oil
Cannabidiol has effects on the brain it prevents the breakdown of a chemical that aggravates the pain and affect mood and mental function. It can reduce pain and anxiety. It also reduces psychotic symptoms related to conditions like schizophrenia, epilepsy.
Giving a scientific explanation on how CBD benefits the body is because of the endocannabinoid system (ECS) which is a widespread neuromodulatory system that plays important roles within the central nervous system (CNS) development.
The body produces 2 receptors:
CB1 receptor: They are present throughout the body, particularly in the brain. They co-ordinate body movement, pain, emotion, mood, thinking, appetite, memories, and other functions.
CB2 receptor: They are more common in the immune system. They affect inflammation and pain.
THC is attached to CB1 receptors. CBD stimulates the receptors so that the body produces its own cannabinoids, referred to as endocannabinoids.
Health benefits of CBD oil:
