Tension headaches aka stress headaches are dull pain, tightness and pressure around the forehead or the rear of your head and neck. Experts say that tension headaches stem from muscle contractions within the face, neck and scalp as a result of heightened emotions or stress. But this is still being debated as some research suggests contraction is not the cause.

How to cure a headache easily without prescription medicines
Ginger, the all-rounder
Touted as an elixir for headaches, ginger is a home remedy for immediate relief. It helps to reduce inflammation of the blood vessels in the head, resulting in easing the pain. And since it also stimulates digestion, it helps suppress nausea which occurs during migraines.
Wondering what is the best way to use this miracle ingredient as a home remedy for a headache? Steep ginger root for tea or mix equal parts of ginger juice and lemon juice and drink in a shot glass. You can consume this once or twice a day. You can also apply a paste made from ginger powder with a couple of tablespoons water and apply on your forehead for a few minutes to experience quicker relief.
Soothe with scent
With its refreshing scent, peppermint helps to open up clogged blood vessels which cause headache. Peppermint oil contains menthol which helps to regulate blood flow. Gently inhale the aroma (its good if you are in a dark room) you can also mix 3 drops of peppermint oil in one tablespoon of almond oil, or simply add little water and massage the temples or the rear of your neck with it.
Alternatively, you can apply crushed peppermint leaves on your forehead. You can also make an herbal tea by adding 1 teaspoon of dried peppermint to a cup of boiling water. Cover and let it steep for 10 minutes. Strain and add some honey to sweeten it. Sip the tea slowly.
Lavender oil has an exquisite fragrance – it is also an excellent remedy for alleviating headaches. Simply smelling the soothing scent of lavender oil helps, so you can just put a couple of drops on a tissue and inhale it or you can add 2-3 drops of lavender oil to 2 cups of boiling water and inhale the steam.
An alternative is to combine two or three drops in one tablespoon of almond oil or olive oil and massage your forehead with it. You can even draw a foot bath of lavender oil and peppermint since water draws blood to your feet and therefore the aroma relaxes you.
Cinnamon, the miracle spice referred to as one among the effective headache remedies. Wondering the way to use it? Grind some cinnamon sticks into a powder, and add some water to form a thick paste. Apply it on your forehead and temples, close your eyes and lay still for a half-hour. Then wash it off with lukewarm water.
Cloves can be used to relieve throbbing headache, thanks to its cooling and pain-relieving properties. Whenever you’ve got a headache, crush 3-4 cloves and put them in a sachet or a clean handkerchief and inhale the smell of the crushed cloves until you get some relief from the pain.
Add Magnesium to your diet
Magnesium deficiency is linked to headaches and migraines. It also prevents menstrual-related migraines. Food that contains magnesium are almonds, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, brazil nuts, cashew.
Eat a Banana
Do you think monkeys have headaches? We don’t know for sure. But they probably don’t since they eat a lot of bananas. Bananas help to ease headaches because they contain potassium, magnesium, B vitamins and complex carbohydrates. Keep them aside and reach for a banana a day and you can keep your headache and the doctor away.
